She Wins M\u00e9xico is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to use sports and education as tools for the social, personal, and professional development of girls and women in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Our organization was founded in 2015 with the vision of achieving gender equity and strengthening capacities for women.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The story of She Wins M\u00e9xico begins when Cecilia Vales meets M\u00f3nica Gonz\u00e1lez, former captain of the Mexican National Soccer Team, and starts working with her to use soccer as a tool to empower girls and women in Colombia.<\/p>\n

She Wins empowers girls in the United States and Colombia through soccer. Cecilia, surprised by the lack of similar academies in Mexico, reaches out to her friend Regina Vivanco, and together they create a network of academies in Mexico and Latin America, including 13 academies in Colombia and several cities in Mexico such as Estado de M\u00e9xico, Quer\u00e9taro, and Baja California.<\/p>\n

Later, Cecilia is invited to the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Global Sport Mentoring Program. She Wins M\u00e9xico emerges to address the need for safe spaces where girls and women in Mexico and Latin America can practice sports, develop skills, and improve their personal and professional well-being.<\/p>\n

The organization offers academies and sports clinics in soccer, softball, basketball, and ultimate frisbee, along with life skills workshops to help participants apply what they learn on the field to other aspects of their lives. She has over 12 years of experience working with sports for development and education to empower girls and women from marginalized communities in Mexico and Latin America. She has worked internationally in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, the United States, and Spain.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

As part of her professional career, she was a delegate of the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP) and the eQuality Football Workshop implemented by UN Women and Valencia C.F.<\/p>

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s in Public Administration from New York University.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad Iberoamericana, a professional coaching certification from ENDIT, and F, E, and D licenses from the U.S. Soccer Federation. She has over 9 years of experience working in sports for development. Regina uses soccer as a development tool to transform the lives of girls and women in Mexico.<\/p>

She served as an assistant coach for Tigres Femenil’s first-division team during the Apertura 2021 tournament and as head coach of Tigres’ U-17 women’s team during the Clausura 2022 of Liga MX Femenil. She also held a position as Operational Assistant with the Mexican Football Federation in the “FIFA Academy” scouting program.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lisa Berg

She is a professional soccer coach and has worked as a scout for the Mexican National Team and the United States Soccer Federation. Lisa is a sports diplomat for the U.S. Department of State and co-founder of Growing the Game for Girls, a non-governmental organization that uses sports to support girls and women in Africa.<\/p>

Lisa has over 20 years of experience in soccer and has had the opportunity to train coaches in more than 16 countries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, chemistry, and Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in exercise and sport psychology.
